David L. Driscoll is the Director of the Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. An applied anthropologist and epidemiologist, he is the principle investigator for several studies to develop and evaluate evidence-based risk communication, health promotion, and disease prevention interventions regarding health issues affecting Alaskans and other residents of the circumpolar north.
His multidisciplinary research designs seek to link population-level health data and sociocultural context to create effective public health programs. His methodological experience spans a range of techniques, including unobtrusive structured observation, semistructured and structured individual and group interviews, focus group interviews, telephone interviews, group-administered questionnaires, and mail surveys. His analytical experience includes narrative and contextual qualitative analysis, perception mapping, univariate and multivariate quantitative approaches, and the triangulation of these analyses into a cohesive final product.
Dr. Driscoll has more than 10 years of experience developing and evaluating health promotion interventions and conducting community-based preference elicitation studies, environmental exposure assessments, health risk characterizations, and program evaluations.
